Blairmont comes to the aid of Paradise Community Centre
Blairmont Centre Cricket Club (BCCC), in collaboration with Big B’s Restaurant, has assisted the Paradise Community Centre on the West Coast of Berbice with cricket gears for their Under-15 team.
Shabeer Baksh, president of BCCC, mentioned in a small handing over ceremony, “Our club recognized the Paradise Community Centre has been working hard to provide opportunity and support for youths”.
He added, “One of the most dominant clubs in the West Berbice area for decades wants to be influential to keep youngsters away from drugs, alcohol and other social ills by playing cricket. Clubs need focus on having vibrant youth teams, instead of having a senior team only.”
He thanked Big B’s management and staff for assistance in making the donation possible. “The youths are the people of tomorrow, let’s care them”, he encouraged.
The Paradise Community Centre, under the leadership of Glenford Fordyce, has a lot to offer youths. Other than cricket, there are basketball and football activities. Fordyce thanked BCCC and Big B’s Restaurant for this initiative, and promised the club would continue to work overtime to create opportunities for youngsters.
