The semi-finals of the ongoing Nauth Motor Spares/ Well Teen/Trophy Stall/ Tropical prings U13 cricket tourney was contested last Saturday at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground in Queenstown, Georgetown with the hosts and Transport Sports Club making their exits.
Blairmont Cricket Club beat Transport Sports Club (TSC) by one run after the former scored 139-9 in 25 overs with Zinnal Ramsammy (57) and Shakir Saffie (26) the main scorers. Jonathan Adams 3-29 and Alvin Mohabir 2-19 led the bowling for TSC who in reply made 138-8 despite 55 from Shamar Yearwood.
Blairmont bowling was led by Ramsammy with 3-17 and Sreedath Roopnarine who took 2-31. Ramsammy was later named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match.
The second semis saw another thriller as the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) beat neighbours, DCC by one wicket after bowling out the latter for 144 in 19.2 overs as Joel Gilkes top-scored with 47.
Rivaldo Phillips 2-19 and Zackhery Jodah 2-22 were the main bowlers for GCC who scored 145-9 in reply compliments of an MVP knock of 74 by Tallius Lovell. The final match between Blairmont and GCC is now tentatively set for November 5 at the DCC Ground and is expected to bowl off at 19:00h while there will be a 3rd place play-off will be between Transport and DCC today (Saturday October 29) from 18:00h.
