Exciting junior cricket continued in the ancient county, Berbice on Monday last. In the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Under-15 match, featuring Blairmont Community Centre and Archivers at Blairmont, hosts, Blairmont whipped the opponents by 158 runs. Batting first, Blairmont racked up 201 all out in 32 overs due to rain. With proper invested covers at Blairmont, play was possible despite the inclement weather.
Blairmont collective batting effort was led by Rawl Dindyal who scored 30 and 12-year old batting sensation Razam Koobir who chipped in 27. Andy Rageraj and Zaid Baksh made 20 runs each. In reply Achievers were blown away like the winds for 43 all out in 14 overs when the impressive Andy Tageraj snapped up 5-6. The left-arm spinner, who made his First division debut against Tucber Park in the BCB Banks Beer 2-Day recently, displayed great skill. He was supported by Dindyal who polished off his all-round game with 3-14.
The matches will continue from tomorrow Thursday December 19. In the Under 15 Zone B clash, Tucber Park will meet Rose Hall Canje at the Rose Hall Canje Community Centre Ground.
Kendall Union will play Edinburgh at Kendall Union while on Friday December 20, RH Canje will battle Edinburgh at Canje.
In the Zone C clash on Thursday December 19, Port Mourant will take on Albion at Albion
While on Friday December 20, Albion and RHT Farfan and Mendes will battle for supremacy at Albion.
Meanwhile, in the Under 17 fixture set for today Wednesday December 18, Albion will meet Blairmont at Albion, Achievers clash Port Mourant at Port Mourant, Tucber Park will meet RHT Bakewell at Tucber Park, and RH Canje takes on Mt. Sinai at Canje. The semifinals are slated for Sunday December.
