Home News Block-maker denies stealing cellphone, granted bail
Alex Beresford of Depot Dam, Swan Street, Malgre Tout, West Bank Demerara (WBD) was on Thursday arraigned at the Wales Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone worth $45,000, property of David Singh.
Police state that the incident occurred on December 23, 2017.
The accused, who works as a block-maker, entered a not-guilty plea when the charge was read to him by Magistrate Rushell Liverpool. The court heard that Beresford was previously charged for committing an offence similar in nature, but was found not guilty at the end of the trail.
The prosecution had no objection to bail being granted, and as such, the accused was released on $25,000 bail. He will make his next court appearance at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court on June 11, when a report on the matter will be presented.
The 20-year-old man was unrepresented.
