Blockmaker released on bail for attempted murder

An Albouystown, Georgetown block maker on Thursday reappeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts after he was slapped with an attempted murder charge in May last.
Twenty-seven-year-old Malcolm Culley of Lot 154 Cooper Street, Albouystown, Georgetown was not required to plead when the charge was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on his first appearance.

The court heard that on May 18, 2018, at Albouystown, with intent to commit murder, Culley wounded Rawle Khan.
the court was informed that the injured man was at the time still hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital suffering from a punctured lung, three broken ribs, and several lacerations about his body.
In a bail application, Culley’s Attorney, George Thomas, told the court that his client, a father of one, was soon to be a parent again.
He highlighted that Culley had no previous matters in the courts, and did not pose a flight risk.
Culley was granted bail under condition that he makes no contact with, and stays at least 50 feet away from, the victim. He was also ordered to lodge his travel documents with the Police.
The case will continue on August 2.
