Blood technician arrested for verbally abusing Journalist

Priya Singh, a blood technician attached to the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) was on Sunday arrested by ranks of the Aurora Police Station after she was accused of verbally abusing Indrawattie Natram, a journalist, in front of her Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) home.

It is alleged that on September 19, one of Singh’s friends used her vehicle bearing registration number PSS 2069 and passed Natram’s Golden Fleece home several times.
However, at the time, the female journalist was in her hammock with her mother. In one instance, Singh allegedly pushed her face out of the window and spewed derogatory remarks at Natram. Not satisfied, Singh and her friends went to a nearby shop and imbibed.
After they were done, they once again passed by the journalist’s home, lowered the window and Singh continued her offensive attack on the woman.
As such, the matter was reported to the Anna Regina, Suddie and Aurora Police Stations. In addition to the verbal abuse, Singh took to her social media platform to attack the journalist. This matter was reported to the CID headquarters.
In that instance, she was detained and warned of her behaviour and was instructed to remove the offensive posts.
These matters stemmed from an old grievance between Singh and the journalist.
Meanwhile, following Singh’s arrest on Sunday, she was reportedly released on $50,000 station bail and was charged to make her court appearance today at the Charity Magistrate’s Court.
