Blyden Scores maiden century in USA

Once more Guyanese batsman Travis Blyden has inspired Pioneer Cricket Club to victory with a brilliant unbeaten century against Big Apple Cricket Club at the weekend. The right handed batsman smashed six sixes and seven fours in his top score of 127 not out to continue his good form in the USA leagues.

Opting to take first strike, Pioneer reached 222-6 in a game reduced to 35 over per side due to a late start. Blyden was the principal scorer and was supported by Paul Biggs who made 41. Former West Indies and Guyana U-19 player Richard Ramdeen collected two wickets for Big Apple.

In reply, Ramdeen hit a blistering cameo of 37 which included four sixes and two fours while USA former captain Steve Massiah hit 36 as their team fell for 115 in 20 overs. They loss by a huge margin of 107 runs as Chris Cleveland spearheaded Pioneer with four wickets. Blyden claimed one wicket with his leg spin bowling.

Since joining the team, Blyden has offer much with the bat and his century was his first adding to three fifties. As a result Pioneer has recorded three successive wins and is now fifth on the points table.
