A 34-year-old boat captain of Puruni Landing, Middle Mazaruni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) has been charged with attempting to set fire to a building.
Dwayne Sookdeo appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was charged with the offence of Attempting to Set Fire to a Building, contrary to Section 146 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01. The charge was read to Sookdeo, who pleaded not guilty and was released on $100,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to August 10.
