Body found at Tarla Dam, WCD identified

The male corpse that was fished out of a trench at Tarla Dam, Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Monday morning has been positively identified by Kapil Deo Jaikarran as that of his brother, 35-year-old Dhaniram Jaikarran of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

According to Kapil Deo Jaikarran, the dead man had last been seen on February 20. Kapil Deo also informed ranks that his brother had been in the habit of drinking heavily. However, the circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear.
Dhaniram Jaikarran’s body was spotted by two children floating in the trench at about 08:10hrs on Monday. It was clad in a pair of long black pants and a white vest. Visible scars were seen across the face and about the chest, thus investigators have not ruled out foul play. Investigators also revealed to this publication that the body had seemingly been in the trench for almost a day. A post mortem is expected to be done shortly.
