Police on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) have intensified their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found under a stall at the Mon Repos Market, ECD.
The dead man has been identified as Víctor Persaud, suspected to be in his 50s. The discovery was made around 06:45h on Wednesday.
A businessman, Roopnarine Mohamed, who owns and operates the “Big K Taxi Service” at the said market, related that a female would usually “check up” on the now dead man, and she found him in a motionless state. An alarm was raised, and the businessman and other persons went over to the scene where they saw him lying face-up; he was clad in a pair of long blue pants and a jersey.
Police ranks from the Beterverwagting Police Station were subsequently summoned to the scene.
Upon preliminary investigations, the Police found no marks of violence. The body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Home to await a post-mortem.
