One day after a 15-year-old male student of the Wisburg Secondary School disappeared after plunging into the Blue Lake at Wisroc, his body was recovered on Sunday.
The discovery was made about 10:00h.
The teen, who resided at Prosville, Wismar, Linden, reportedly went to the area to swim with his 17-year-old sister, but did not resurface after going into the lake at approximately 17:30h on Saturday.
According to Police, the teen left his home at approximately 16:30h with his sister and other relatives to a have a swim and while in the water he encountered difficulties and subsequently went under.
A relative who observed the teenager going under water reportedly made efforts to rescue him, but was unsuccessful. An alarm was raised and residents formed a search party, but that too was not successful in locating the body.
As it got darker, the search was abandoned, but the team reassembled on Sunday and continued their search. It was during that search the teen’s body was spotted and pulled to land. The body was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) Mortuary to await a post-mortem.
