The motionless body of a market vendor was on Tuesday found on a bridge at Brush Dam Road, Friendship, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The dead man has been identified as 28-year-old Oneil Issacs of Friendship, ECD. Police stated that Isaacs was found lying on the bridge by a resident of the community.
An alarm was raised and the Police were contacted. The Emergency Medical Technicians from the Melanie Fire Station who responded to the scene pronounced him dead.
There were no marks of violence seen on the body. The body was taken to Jerrick’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
Only two months ago, the partially decomposed body of 46-year-old Shelton Henry, of Lot 202 Area G Strathspey, ECD, was found floating in a trench on the eastern half of Company Road, Buxton, ECD.
The discovery was made by villagers in the area, according to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF). The body was subsequently identified by Henry’s uncle, Gavin McPherson.
Investigations revealed that Henry, who was unemployed, was last seen alive two days before he was found, lying on Company Road, Buxton, ECD.
Officers of the GPF examined Henry’s body, but no marks of violence were seen on the exposed areas. Henry was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead.
