Bonner slams unbeaten 166 on Day 2 of Best v Best three-day match
Nkrumah Bonner continued from where he left off on the first day, hitting an unbeaten 166 on day two of the Best v Best three-day match at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
The Test batsman’s innings of 166 from 367 balls was laced with 17 fours and two sixes as Team Jermaine Blackwood scored 384-6 in 143 overs.
In response, Team Kraigg Brathwaite ended the day on 73-2 in 41 overs, with captain Brathwaite on 35 not out and Shamarh Brooks having made 34. Shai Hope, who is yet to get off the mark, will resume the third day with his captain.
Resuming the day on 234-4 in 87 overs, Bonner was supported by Barbadian Raymon Reifer, who made 71 off 155 balls, decorated with eight fours and two sixes.
Earlier on the opening day, Sheyne Moseley and Kaveem Hodge made 39 runs each. Rahkeem Cornwall ended with 2-79 in 27 overs, while Jayden Seales and Preston McSween had 1-23 and 1-51 respectively. Team Brathwaite lost Jeremy Solozano for two when he was trapped by veteran Kemar Roach, and Brooks was removed by leg-spinner Imran Khan.
West Indies players are using this match as part of their preparation for a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka next month. The series is the second of six series – three at home and three away – that West Indies will play in the 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship.
