Bonofiglio appointed Golden Jaguars Head Coach

The Guyana Football Federation has appointed Marco Bonofiglio as Head Coach of the Golden Jaguars senior men’s national team and the Junior Golden Jaguars under-20 side.
The announcement was made on Friday.
Bonofiglio will take charge of the national programme as Guyana prepares for the 2026 Concacaf Nations League and continues its long-term football development plans.
His responsibilities will include preparing both teams for international competition, setting the technical direction of the programme and establishing a clear playing philosophy for Guyana’s men’s national teams.
He will also review the performance of the coaching and support staff, recruit qualified personnel, strengthen technical standards and expand the pool of players available for national selection.
Bonofiglio is familiar with Guyanese football, having previously served as assistant coach of the senior Golden Jaguars and the Under-20 men’s team.
He also previously coached Guyana’s Under-17 men’s team, guiding the side to its highest-ever finish at the Concacaf Under-17 Championship. The achievement was regarded as an important step in the development of the country’s youth football programme.

At club level, Bonofiglio led Inter Toronto FC to the 2024 League1 Ontario Championship. He has also held coaching positions with Vigour Senigallia in Italy and participated in professional coaching mentorships with Vis Pesaro and members of the Italy Under-19 coaching staff.
Bonofiglio holds Concacaf National A, B and C diplomas and is currently pursuing the Concacaf Pro Diploma. He has also earned Juventus Coaching Clinic Level One and Level Two qualifications.
Bonofiglio said his aim is to develop a disciplined, aggressive and tactically intelligent team that reflects the pride and ambition of Guyana.
“My objective is to build a team that reflects the pride, resilience and ambition of our country,” he said.
GFF President Wayne Forde welcomed the appointment and said Bonofiglio’s knowledge of the players, local culture and national expectations placed him in a strong position to lead the programme.
Forde said the appointment was not only about preparing the team for competition, but also about creating a high-performance environment that develops players, improves the country’s technical capacity and allows Guyana to compete consistently at the highest levels of Concacaf.
