Home News Bosai employee allegedly sets self on fire after leaving foreman’s office
The Police have launched an investigation into the death of a plant operator attached to the Bosai Mineral Group, Republic Avenue, Mackenzie, Linden, which occurred on Sunday.
The dead man has been identified as Kersa Robertson, 39, of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on the day in question at about 05:50h, the now dead man went to his place of employment and was seen in the foreman’s office.
He subsequently left the said office and went into the compound but shortly after he was heard screaming and seen running in the compound engulfed in flames. Upon seeing this, his colleagues rushed to his aid and were able to dowse the fire but the man subsequently collapsed.
Robertson was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was admitted a patient, suffering from third and fourth degree burns to about 95 per cent of his body.
He later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. Shortly after, the area was reportedly searched by the Police during which a haversack belonging to Robertson was found in a small concrete structure in the compound. It contained a burnt plastic bottle and a box of matches.
A post-mortem is expected to be performed today.
