Director of Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG), Chris Bowman has emphasised the collective effort required to nurture and sustain youth basketball throughout the year, in a recent Facebook post. “Everyone plays an important role,” he stated, highlighting the dedication of the entire community in supporting this vibrant sport.
Bowman recognised the vital contributions of various individuals and organisations beyond the core YBG team, underscoring the impact of teachers, coaches, sponsors, and partners. “It takes a dedicated community to organise and sustain youth basketball year-round,” he added, expressing deep gratitude for those who consistently show up and deliver excellence.

Special appreciation was directed towards Troy Mendonca of the Guinness Bar, who provides quality, affordable meals for young athletes, ensuring they stay nourished and energised. “Thank you to Ms Persaud and the leadership of the Church of the Nazarene for your patience and willingness to accommodate dozens of young people at your facilities,” Bowman noted, acknowledging the church’s role in fostering a safe environment for practices and events.
Bowman’s gratitude extended to Ramesh, Davi, Jules, and the Trophy Stall team for their relentless support, as well as to graphic designers Jason Harper and Marlon Chesney for their quality work. He also recognised Shamar Semple and Pastor Denise Harris for their photography and videography contributions, alongside Akili and Shemroy for streaming this year’s National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF).
