A 10-year-old pupil of Monkey Mountain Primary School is now nursing gunshot wound to his abdomen following a shooting incident at Taruka Village, Region 8, on Thursday afternoon. 
Reports are that the 10-year-old boy and his 12-year-old friend were playing with a shotgun owned by the latter’s relatives when the firearm accidentally went off.
Upon hearing the gunshot, the elders in the house went to check on the children, and they realised that the 10-year-old boy was bleeding. Further checks revealed that he was shot. He was rushed to the Monkey Mountain Health Centre, where he was treated and is in a stable condition.
The matter was reported, and a team of Police ranks travelled in to the mountainous area to probe the incident. The 12-year-old shooter has since gone into hiding.
