The case involving Lindeners Selwyn Campbell and Laurel Almond, both of Block 22, Wismar, who are facing assault charges for reportedly lashing Wismar resident Jason Lespoir with a cutlass, inflicting injuries on him on April 26, 2018 at One Mile, Wismar, commenced on Tuesday before Linden Magistrate Clive Nurse.
With both defendants being absent from court, two witnesses took to the stand to give evidence; one of those witnesses was the virtual complainant, Jason Lespoir.
The prosecution is contending that on the day in question, during a fight, Almond dealt Lespoir several lashes with a cutlass while Campbell punched Lespoir to his face.
The matter has been set to continue on August 30.
