Brazilian border breached

Dear Editor,
It is with sadness and disbelief that I read today that the first Region 9 coronavirus victim had illegally entered our country from Brazil, and has exposed many of our vulnerable Indigenous communities to the virus. It is imperative that immediate widespread testing be conducted in these communities, and that our borders are better secured.
Our Ministries must move with utmost urgency to prevent a disaster from occurring. The movement of all goods within our supply chain needs to be under strict control, with proper health measures in place.
Brazil continues to be a high-risk country for this infection, and its President recently fired the Health Minister over an internal dispute in which the Minister claimed that the President refused to take the recommended precautions to stem the spread of the virus.
We must act immediately and with a sense of urgency in this critical matter.

Sincerely,
Jamil Changlee
