A Brazilian miner was on Sunday nabbed with an unlicensed single-barrel shotgun and one live cartridge at her mining camp at Black Water Backdam, Konawaruk, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
Acting on information received, Police ranks went to the suspect’s camp at about 16:00h and conducted a search, during which the discovery was made in her presence.
The 47-year-old suspect has admitted ownership of the unlicensed firearm and ammunition. She is being processed for court after being charged by the Police for possession of a firearm and ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.
This latest seizure in F Division (Interior Locations) has brought the total thus far to 17 illegal firearms seized for the year.
