A 60-year-old security guard was on Wednesday remanded to prison after appearing before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court charged with breaching a protection order.
Lakhan, of Lima Sideline Dam, Essequibo Coast, appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir, who presided over the proceedings via Zoom.
The charge alleges that on June 25 at La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast, he breached a protection order issued in favour of 55-year-old housewife Gata Ramesh of Lot 44 La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast.
The offence was instituted under Section 16(2)(a) of the Family Violence Act 2024.
Lakhan pleaded not guilty to the charge. Following the hearing, the magistrate remanded him to prison.
The matter was adjourned to August 5.
