Bremner, Cummings, Allicock favoured after Round of 16

iBET Supreme FIFA 20 League of Champions

The iBET Supreme FIFA 20 ‘League of Champions’ eSports championship will enter into the tense rounds today, as eight remaining participants begin their first leg of the quarterfinal.

Akeem Allicock

The tournament, which got underway just a week ago, is now at the quarter-final stage, following completion of the Round of 16 in the past week.
Eight of the best players have now booked their quarter-final spots, and will be going toe-to-toe on the nights of May 3 and 5 with an eye on securing for themselves a semi-final spot.
Among the favourites thus far are Tevin Bremner, Pernell Cummings and Akeem Allicock, who all booked their respective quarter-final spots in convincing fashion. However, the other five all proved their class with hard fought battles, and it will make for tantalizing encounters, all in all.

Tevin Bremner

Bremner, who faced Vance Validum, won on a 7-4 aggregate, with his Liverpool team playing the first leg away. Bremner handed Validum a 3-1 loss, and returned home to win a challenging second leg at 4-3.
Pernell Cummings, playing with Manchester United, progressed 8-5 on aggregate. He won his second leg playing away with a convincing 5-2 win, after a 3-3 stalemate in the first leg against Daniel Vancooten and his PSG side.
Akeem Allicock also booked his spot with convincing victories. He played away with FC Barcelona in the first leg, beating Osase Barclay’s Juventus 2-1 before recording a 2-0 win in the return fixture.
Commenting on the progress of the tournament thus far, iBET’s Marketing and Business Development Coordinator Dustanni Barrow noted: “The level of competitiveness was incredible in the Round of 16 games. All were very close, all the players were anxious, waiting to get their games done. There was also a level of camaraderie amongst them. I expect an even more intense level in the upcoming quarter-finals.”
He also pointed out: “This initial setup is good, because we are still learning a few things as we progress in the tournament. This is the first time that a tournament like this is being held in Guyana. The biggest issue thus far has been the internet. We’ve had some problems with internet speed for various contestants, but we have been making it work.
“If persons have been looking at our livestreams, certain times there has been buffering in some of them, and that’s what’s been happening directly on the end of our competitors”.
Barrow maintained: “The internet is one of the biggest problems. Hopefully, that is going to get better in time. In the future, we will be looking to host tournaments throughout Guyana with technological improvements. This is something we hope can advance, so that we can have bigger and better tournaments. For example, we could not have any contestants this time around from Bartica, because of the terrible quality of internet in that region”.
“I can safely say that iBET Supreme is looking to get involved in all facets of gaming in Guyana. We will continue with the eSports drive, and seek to get into live sports as well”.
The quarter-finals will get underway at 7:30pm on each match night, and will be streamed via iBet Supreme’s Facebook page.
Winner of the event will pocket $50,000, two pennyweights of gold, a trophy, a case of Monster Energy Drink, and a special Church’s Chicken meal.
The second-place finisher will collect $25,000, a case of Monster Energy Drink, and a Church’s Chicken meal.
The third-place finisher will receive $15,000, a case of Monster Energy Drink, and a Church’s Chicken meal.
