In a release Wednesday, the administration of the Brickdam Secondary School described reports circulating about alleged structural issues at the School as “inaccurate and misleading”.
In its official clarification, seen on the Education Ministry’s Facebook page on Wednesday, it noted that once the matter was brought to the attention of the Headmistress, it was immediately reported to the Ministry of Education on Sunday, January 11.
A plumber attended the school that same day, and the issue was fully resolved by Monday, January 12 .
The incident, it emphasised, was not structural in nature. It resulted from damage to the catchment beneath the sinks in the female washrooms, combined with taps being left on during a period of low water pressure on Friday.
“When water pressure was restored over the weekend, the unattended flow led to an overflow, which caused damage to the ceiling on the lower floor,” the release stated.
