Brief power disruption at GPHC quickly resolved, no patients harmed – Hospital officials

Early Saturday, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) experienced a brief power interruption following a citywide outage.
According to hospital officials, the facility’s backup generator was immediately activated as designed, ensuring that essential services continued without disruption.
However, when utility power was restored, a tripped breaker caused a temporary power disruption in the emergency room and outpatient clinics, lasting approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Officials noted that the outpatient clinics were not in operation at the time, as they are closed on weekends.
The technical team at GPHC promptly identified and resolved the issue.
Hospital authorities confirmed that at no point were any patients severely affected, and patient care continued uninterrupted throughout the incident.
In its statement, GPHC reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety and transparency, thanking the public for their understanding during the brief disruption.
