Brilliant Abdul Ramsammy Leads Tucber Park into finals

BCB/Premium Asphalt Under-19 Tournament

A brilliant performance from Berbice youth all-rounder Abdul Ramsammy has led his team, Tucber Park, into the finals of the historic Berbice Cricket Board/Premium Asphalt Under-19 tournament.

Ramsammy took 3 wickets for 17 runs from his 10 overs, then scored 39 runs to spearhead Tucber Park to an easy 6-wicket victory over a Rose Hall Canje team.
With the match being played at the historic Rose Hall Canje Welfare Centre ground, the home team won the toss and batted first. They recorded 106 runs all out in 30.1 of their allotted 50 overs. National youth players Sanjay Algoo and Isiah Thorne top scored with 15 and 14 respectively, while Kevin Budhoo supported with 11.
Ramsammy took 3 for 17, Ravishkar Sobhai took 2 for 35 (8 overs), and Kevin Kisten took 2 for 4 (1.4 overs) as the top bowlers for the impressive Tucber Park.
Needing to score 107 from 50 overs to reach the semifinals, Tucber Park raced to 109 for 4 in 13.2 overs, Ramsammy completing a fine all-round performance with a solid 39 (3×4). He received support from Ravishkar Sobhai (23) and Zeynul Ramsammy (16).
Sanjay Algoo took all four Tucber Park wickets to fall, ending with figures of 3-0-26-4 in a losing cause.
Tucber Park will now clash with East Bank Blazers in the finals, which would be played this weekend at the Rose Hall Canje Ground.
The BCB/Premium Asphalt Under-19 tournament is one of four that would be played in each of the sub zones. A countywide Berbice Under-19 tournament would start in early April.
