Shemar Britton was in excellent from when he captured the Open 2350 category by defeating Stephen Chui in the final.
Nigel Bryan who also participated in the under 2350 category secured a bronze medal lost out to eventual finalist Chui .
Other success for the Guyanese was women’s senior Natalie Cummings who finished in the semi-finals of the 2050 category having lost a close encounter to eventual tournament winner in match that she should have won after leading.
2017 Caribbean Girls singles bronze medallist Priscilla Greaves lost in the 1900 division during the group stages.
National men’s Table Tennis champion Christopher Franklin seeking to capture his form, reached the round-of-16 in the vaunted 2500 Open category while Joel Alleyne lost in the semi-finals of the 2250 category.
The Championships which is a USATT 4-star tournament had in excess of USD $5,000 in prizes and drew players from around the world, is recognized as one of the largest monthly table tennis tournaments held in the United States.
Meanwhile, the team which was being supported by 11 times national men’s champion and 1992 Caribbean men’s champion Sydney Christophe Caribbean will see the stalwart conduct an intense 4-day training camp before departure for Australia on March 30.
Caribbean men’s champion Robert Roberts in discussion with President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association Godfrey Munroe indicated he and participants from the championships were was truly impressed with the talent displayed by the Guyanese he offered some great advice for their improvement.
