A Region One (Barima-Waini) man on Friday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a breaking and entering and larceny charge.
Steve Williams denied the charge which alleged that between December 25 and 26, 2016, at Matthews Ridge, North West District, he broke and entered the shop of Wilfred Small and stole items amounting to $214,760. It is alleged that his accomplice was his brother, Vincent Williams, for whom an arrest warrant was issued after the court was told that he had escaped from Police custody.
The Prosecution had no objections to bail, as the items were all recovered at the home of the accused. Bail was granted in the sum of $75,000.
The case will continue on February 7, 2017, at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
