Seon Bakker, called “Akbar”, of Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he denied the charge which stated that on June 15, 2019 at Mabura, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), he had in his possession 28.148 kilogram (or 62 lbs) of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The prosecution is contending that the 42-year-old man was arrested about 17:00h when ranks at the Mabura Police Outpost conducted a search on minibus BNN 7872, which was driven by the defendant and destined for Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).

According to the Prosecutor, a quantity of leaves, stems, and seeds were observed to be wrapped in transparent plastic.
As a result of this, the defendant was taken into custody, cautioned, and the present charge was later instituted.
The unrepresented man was remanded to prison. The case will continue on July 10, 2019 at Linden Magistrate’s Court.
