Bus operator, carpenter granted bail for brawl

Thirty-nine-year-old minibus operator Nigel Douglas and 30-year-old carpenter Sherlock Yaw were both released on $30,000 bail for assaulting each other during an alleged altercation at Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
The duo appeared before Magistrate Rushell Liverpool at the Wales Magistrate’s Court last week, where they both denied committing the offence, which Police said occurred on March 9, 2018.
Douglas, of Unity Street, La Grange, WBD, denied that he assaulted Yaw causing him actual bodily harm while Yaw, who resides in Schoonord, WBD, denied that he unlawfully wounded Douglas. As the prosecution had no objections to bail, the defendants were granted their pre-trial liberty. The case will continue on May 31, 2018.
