BCB/ 2nd Division 40-Over Competition
…Port Mourant, Cut & Load, CWC & #70 MYO win also
The Berbice Cricket Board’s Second Division competition continued last weekend at various grounds across the county, as second division teams battle for supremacy in this 40 over round robin competition.
At the Block 4 cricket Club ground in Tain, Port Mourant Cricket Club defeated Block 4 by 7 wickets in their 40 over encounter. Batting first, Block 4 scored 134 all out as J. Nunes and K Balgobin top scored with 23 runs each as Joel Sietaram took 4 for 27, Dorasammi Mahadeo took 3 for 18, and George Hughes 2 for 12.
In the run chase, Port Mourant reached 135 in 24 overs as Emmanuel Seecharran top scored with an unbeaten 40, M. Hemraj 32, Joel Sietaram 20 and Daniel Samaroo not out on 12.
Over at Bushlot, Bushlot United defeated Bushlot Rising Stars by 186 runs. Bushlot United batted first and scored a massive 297 but restricted their opponents Bushlot Rising Stars for 111.
For Bushlot United, Asgar Matabeek top scored with 64, Joel Dilchand 45, Christopher Bissoon 45 and Ryan Thakurram 41 as Joel Dilchand wreaked havoc with 4 for 135 and Navindra Persaud 2 for 17.
In Rising Stars’ innings J. Saywack scored 29, K Fordyce 21, N Shivrattan 12 and Z Khan 12 as the Bushlot United bowlers prove too much for them to deal with.
In the Upper Corentyne Area, at the # 72 Ground, Cut & Load defeated Bomb Squad by 8 wickets. Batting first, Bomb Squad scored 90 runs all out. Cut & Load replied by scoring 91 for 2.
At Skeldon Community Center, rain affected play between Skeldon Titans and # 77 Cricket Club. Points for that washed out game will be split between the two teams.
At # 70 Village, # 70 MYO defeated # 70 Cricket Club by 9 runs. Batting first, # 70 MYO scored 224 while in their reply # 70 CC fell short by 9 runs.
At # 71 Ground, Crabwood Creek defeated # 71 by 6 wickets in their 35 over encounter. Batting first # 71 scored 160 while Crabwood Creek achieved the target in just 19 overs.
The competition continues on Sunday November 5, 2017 at venues across the county.
