Businessman charged for brandishing gun during accident

City businessman Mohamed Din has been charged for threatening behaviour; to wit, pointing his firearm at a man with whom he had had a confrontation. He appeared on Friday before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly and pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by the magistrate. The charge stated that on July 10, 2018, while being a licensed firearm holder, he pointed his firearm at Patrick Williams. Din told the court that he and Williams were involved in a minor motor vehicle accident, and Williams got out of his car and knocked on his vehicle window. Din contends that he placed his hand on his firearm, which was in the middle compartment of his vehicle, because he was scared. He noted that the altercation happened in the Albouystown area, which he described as where a lot of crimes occur. After listening to Din’s explanation, Magistrate Daly placed him on bail in the sum of $10,000, and adjourned the matter to July 16.
