Businessman in custody over execution of contractor

As the police probe the execution-style killing of 47-year-old Kissoondatt Premsukh, which occurred on Thursday, they have arrested a businessman in connection with the murder.

The worksite where the man was gunned down

Premsukh, a contractor of Lot 138 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was at his D’Urban Street, Lodge worksite at about 17:45h when the two armed men pulled up and discharged several bullets in his direction.
It was reported that the father of three was shot multiple times – once to the head and at least twice to his upper body. Soon after the shooting, the injured Premsukh collapsed onto the ground. He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Dead: Kissoondatt Premsukh

An eyewitness told media operatives that he was operating a piece of equipment and did not hear the gunshots but saw persons running to the scene moments later. He noted that as he went to enquire, he saw the injured man lying on the ground covered with blood.
Meanwhile, Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Phillip Azore when contacted on Friday told <<<Guyana Times>>> that they will leave “no stone unturned” in the murder investigations. He confirmed that the businessman was taken into custody after he was implicated and accused of contracting the hitmen to commit the act.
He noted that once the file is completed, it will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
When <<<Guyana Times>>> visited the home of the now dead contractor, his house was locked and upon enquiring about the whereabouts of his family, neighbours noted that they would have left the house immediately after the shooting. It is believed that they might be fearful for their lives as well.
This publication understands that the now dead man was shot and injured during an incident on Father’s Day. Nevertheless, the investigation into Thursday’s fatal shooting is underway. Premsukh leaves to mourn his wife and three children.
