Thirty-eight-year-old Lawrence Joseph, called “Tuggy”, a businessman of Republic Gardens, Georgetown, who was busted on January 1, 2026, with a .40 Smith & Wesson pistol and one live round of matching ammunition, was charged and remanded to prison.

Joseph was charged with the offences of Possession of a Firearm without a Licence and Possession of Ammunition without a Licence, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
He appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty.
As such, bail was refused, and he will make his next court appearance on February 20, 2026.
