The home of a 38-year-old La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) businessman was on Monday evening burglarised by unknown persons.
According to the Police, the incident occurred between 17:45h and 20:50h while the businessman and his family were away from home.
Police stated that at approximately 17:45h, the businessman secured his property and went out. However, upon his return around 20:50h, he heard a noise emanating from the back door and as such, went to check.
It was then that he discovered the door was open, as well as one of the windows on the northern side of the house.
It is believed that the perpetrator/s gained entry to the house through the window and after taking what they wanted, exited through the back door. Several items including two laptop computers, an electronic tablet, and two flash drives were missing.
The Police were summoned to the scene and an investigation was launched. Only about a week ago, a Corentyne businessman’s wife was relieved of more than $18 million in cash outside a commercial bank at Rose Hall Town, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The robbery occurred around 10:20h in the busy commercial district of Rose Hall Town as the businesswoman exited a vehicle and was about to make her way into a local bank.
