Businesswoman, shopkeeper arrested for firearm, ammunition

A Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown businesswoman and a shopkeeper were arrested on Friday following the discovery of a firearm and several live rounds of ammunition on their premises.

Based on reports received, on the day in question between 06:30h and 08:25h, a party of Police ranks went to the location where they conducted a search on the business premises and living quarters of a 44-year-old businesswoman and a 40-year-old male shopkeeper.
Police ranks were at the time raiding for narcotics, guns, ammunition and stolen items.
However, a female rank conducted a search on the person of the businesswoman, who at the time was wrapped in a towel. It was during the search; the firearm was found in the woman’s possession.
The Taurus .32 revolver bearing serial # QL42412 had two live .32 rounds of ammunition. The duo was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, pending investigation and charges.
