Businesswoman struck down by speeding ATV

A 21-year-old businesswoman of S1A Junction, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD), is currently hospitalised after she was struck down by a speeding All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Friday.

The incident occurred at about 00:05h along the Main Access Road in Port Kaituma and involved an the ATV with registration CH 2890 driven by a 35-year-old miner of Oronoque, Port Kaituma, NWD; and the businesswoman, Cryslyn Bollers.
Police said that the motorcycle was speeding along the roadway and on the approach of the junction, the driver alleged that he saw some pedestrians walking north along the said road.
He claimed that he applied brakes, but lost control, causing him to skid in a southwestern direction and collide with one of the pedestrians. As a result of the collision, Bollers fell onto the road’s surface and received injuries to her head and body.
She was picked up in a conscious condition and taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital where she was treated and admitted a patient. Her condition is regarded as stable.
The driver is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
