Buttercup won the Senior Citizens Bocce Tournament, which was sponsored by the National Sports Commission (NSC) and organised by Wilton Spencer, at the National Gymnasium last Saturday.
Team Buttercup, captained by Norris Fullington and assisted by Eluan Vanolten, Brenda Phill, and Leona Brotherson emerged champions defeating rivals Sunflower 16-9 points after completing 17 frames (frame: when both teams have exhausted four balls each).
In the preliminary rounds, Team Buttercup got past Team Hibiscus 16-6 after playing 12 frames while Team Sunflower won against Team Rose in a closely-contested match, 16-13, after completing 16 frames.
The day’s final game saw Buttercup and Sunflower play to determine the champion.
Following the event, the organiser presented trophies and medals to the winning team while the runner-up had to settle for only medals.
