The GFF Stag ‘Super 16’ Year End Tournament 2018…

The GFF Stag “Super 16” Year-End Tournament 2018 kicked off in grand style at the GFC Ground at Bourda, Georgetown, where Buxton United clashed with River’s View to headline the evening, while Guyana Defence Force (GDF) took on Essequibo to round off the night.
In the first matchup of the night, River’s View and Buxton United locked horns, but the latter completely dominated the event to win 6 – nil.
Buxton went ahead when Paul Kingston struck in the 15th minute, then doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Ronaldo Fredericks found the back of the net.
Resuming after the break with the score line reading 2-nil, Dillon Wright next pierced the uprights in the 52nd minute, while Fredericks completed his brace with a goal in the 64th minute, and Tyrone Harper struck in the 75th minute.
Dellon Wright closed off the scoring in the 88th minute, as the Buxtonians cruised into the next round.
In the other fixture, GDF took command of the match early, to win 3-1 against Essequibo FC.
The match commenced with instant action, as Sherwyn Caesar scored the first goal for the soldiers in the 27th minute, giving them a lead which they kept until half time.
When play resumed, the Essequibians managed to slip in a Randy De Jonge equaliser in the 48th minute. The soldiers replied the very next minute through Abumchi Benjamin, who added his name to the score sheet.
Essequibo tried every tactic in the book, but their efforts culminated with the soldiers scoring their third and final goal of the game, as Abumchi Benjamin returned in the 71st minute to find the back of the net.
