Buxton United, Victoria Kings secure wins

Victoria Kings and Buxton United were the latest Elite League teams to find themselves on winner’s row after defeating New Amsterdam United and Milerock United, respectively, on Sunday night at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Ground at Base Camp Ayangana.

narrow 1 – 0 win to close off the double header.
Kings made their intentions clear quite early with as Aubrey Gibson scored in the first minute against New Amsterdam to push his goal-scoring tally to six, which heads the League. Alden Lawrence joined the party in the 36th minute then completed a double when he scored in the 66th minute.
That victory pushed Victoria Kings to 12 points and on top of the 10-team table from five games. Trailing are GDF, Den Amstel, Western Tigers and Fruta Conquerors.
In the feature match of the night Keavon Durant scored the decider in the 43rd minute for Buxton United as the squad recorded their second win in five matches.
Sadly for the Linden based side, Milerock, it was their third defeat in four games. The team’s only win came when they needled Buxton United last week.
Meanwhile, the Elite League will continue on Friday March 9 at the Tucville Community Ground with another double header.
Cougars will face Western Tigers from 17:30 hours then while Den Amstel and Fruta Conquerors clash in the second encounter from 19:30 hours.
