An East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident was remanded to prison for trafficking marijuana in juice cans.

e was remanded until August 2, 2018.
According to reports, about 09:00h on Thursday, ranks attached to the Bartica Police Station in F Division (Interior Locations), acting on information received, conducted a search of an inbound passenger boat from Parika. During the search, a case of canned juice was found in the back seat.
However, upon inspection, it was revealed that the cans were filled with marijuana. The boat captain told the Police that the case belonged to Skeete, but the 24-year-old miner denied ownership during a confrontation that was held between the two men.
Nevertheless, both were arrested and taken into custody. The narcotic was weighed and amounted to some 788.5 grams.
Legal advice was subsequently sought, and charges were recommended against Skeete. Meanwhile, the boat captain was released as further investigations were ordered as to his involvement in the matter.
