BVA AGM called for this Sunday

– IGG preparations heats up

The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) will be convening its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections on Sunday January 28 at the Guysuco Training Centre.
The electoral procedures will see a new; President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary/ Treasurer, a Public Relations Officer (PRO) along with five committee members being elected.

According to current BVA President Levi Nedd who told Guyana Times Sport on Wednesday that he will be running for the position again, it was also said that following the AGM a meeting will be held immediately to formulate strategies for the remainder of 2018.
Nedd said that once re-elected, he plans to emphasize more on training and development for his players. He added that with migration on the rise in Berbice, he plans to target more schools and institutions for the New Year, adding that getting more sponsorship for volleyball is among the association’s criteria.
Shifting gears to action, Tilcoy on the Corentyne of Berbice is set to host the Association’s first tourney of 2018 with a Senior and Junior Male/Female competition billed for February 11.
Meanwhile, Nedd who is also Guyana’s Inter Guiana Games (IGG) Head Coach for the Under-18 volleyball team, said that he has already been putting things in place for a smooth transition into the international games.
The coach pointed out that both the male and females teams have been doing a lot of training since last year as they prepare to defend their IGG title. He further confirmed that the shortlisting and announcing of both teams will be done on February 4.
He explained that as head coach he has already begun to prep himself and players for the upcoming challenges and said he was targeting mid-February as the possible time frame for confirmation of the IGG teams. (Clifton Ross)
