Home News Cabinet gives green light to over $2B in contracts
During its weekly meeting on Tuesday last, Cabinet granted its no objection to several multimillion-dollar contracts in the various sectors.
According to a release from the Ministry of the Presidency on Wednesday, approvals were given for contracts in the Ministries of Public Infrastructure, Public Health, Education, Security, Communities and Social Protection.
These approved contracts amounts to a total of a whopping ,054,059,056.
Under the Public Security Ministry, a total of 2.2 million was approved in contracts. These include .5 million for the upgrade of sea defence structures between Bushlot and Reliance in Essequibo, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam); 6.4 million for supply and installation of ADS-Band WHF repeater equipment for the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), which is awarded to Intelecan; .9 million for rehabilitation of Iwokrama-Fairview Airstrip, awarded to JR Ranch Incorporated.
An additional .59 million was approved for the docking and rehabilitation of MV Sabanto, being awarded to EC Vieira Investments Limited; .97 million for the construction of river defences at Arthurville, Wakenaam Island, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), and was awarded to Maraj Contracting Services; .59 million for the construction of rip rap sea defences at Moorfarm and Rubblewall, Wakenaam Island, Region Three, awarded to Maraj Contracting Services, and another .3 million for the construction of groynes along Cullen, Essequibo Coast, Region Two, given to Adamantium Holdings.
Meanwhile, Cabinet also granted it’s no objection to contracts under the Education Ministry to the tune of 8 million. Among the contracts was the procurement of primary and secondary level textbooks for national distribution from the following publishers: Oxford University Press at .7 million, Macmillan Distribution at .4 million, Bookpoint Limited at .7 million, and Mohamed’s Book Store Associates Limited 0.3 million.
There were also contracts for the provision of security services for the University of Guyana – Tain and Turkeyen campuses, awarded to Massy Security Guyana to the tune of million, and procurement of fortified sweetened biscuits under the National School Feeding Programme for the school year April 2016-March 2017 and this contract valued 4.7 million was awarded to Banks DIH Limited.
On the other hand, contracts to the tune of 2.6 million were approved for the procurement of items for the Public Health Ministry of. A contract in the sum of million was approved for the procurement of two ventilators for the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital from KD Enterprise; .6 million for the supply and delivery of contraceptives for Maternal and Child Health Care awarded to NEW GPC INC; .2 for the purchase of vaccines for Maternal Child Health from Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO), and 2.2 million for the procurement of dialysis fluids and supplies for the Georgetown Public Hospital from ANSA McAL Trading Limited.
In addition, Cabinet gave its no objection to the award of the contract for the procurement of pharmaceuticals for the Georgetown Public Hospital. The 7.94 million contract is awarded to NEW GPC INC, Health 2000 Guyana, Global Healthcare Supplies and International Pharmacy Agency.
A contract for the sum of 9.4 million for the procurement of medical supplies for the Public Health Ministry was awarded to New GPC INC, Meditron, International Pharmacy Agency, Caribbean Medical Supplies and Global Healthcare Supplies; while second contract valued 5.2 million for the procurement of roche reagents and supplies for the National Public Health Reference Laboratory was given to Productos Roche Panama, South America, and a third contract of million was awarded to Netcom Computer City for the supply of a washer for the laundry at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Two contracts were approved under the Foreign Affairs Ministry for the provision of advisory services in respect to the Guyana-Venezuela Border Controversy. These contracts were awarded to Sir Shridath Ramphal for .8 million and Dr Payam Akhavan for .3 million.
Moreover, Dask Enterprise was awarded a contract to the tune of million under the Ministry of Presidency for the procurement of military uniform material for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and another contract to the tune of million was approved under the Guyana Fire Service for the procurement of tools and equipment from Industrial Safety Supplies Incorporated.
Additionally, a .97 million contract was given no objection for the construction of a ramp and landing for Orealla and Siparuta residents on the Corriverton Foreshore, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne). This contract under the Communities Ministry was awarded to Memorex Enterprises.
Cabinet also approved the supply and delivery of cooked meals for the Night Shelter under the Social Protection Ministry. These contracts were awarded to D and Gee’s Foods for Dinner at .5 million and Breakfast at .1 million, to Koshall’s Catering for Lunch at .26 million.
