Calcutta Primary School won the Daniel Richmond 8 overs softball cricket competition for grade five students when the event was held last Friday.
The new champions defeated Supply Primary by three wickets to take top honours at Fairfield Cricket Ground. Supply scored 29-7, with Jordan Blackett and Yuraj Persaud scoring 10 runs each. Tyric Halley, Jeremiah Fraser and Ezekiel Watson claimed two scalps apiece.
Calcutta in reply, registered 31-8 to win the title, Halley and Watson made 11 runs each. Blackett and Tackul Samaroo took two victims a-piece.
In the lone semifinal after Calcutta drew the bye, Supply defeated Zealand. The latter scored 28-6 while the latter replied with 30-6.
Nine teams were involved in the tournament.
