The victors who went into the final as the underdogs fielded a very young team yet to face any real test, however the Police men carried out an early onslaught which the Camptown defenders weathered throughout the match.
In the final it was not only their defence that played a huge part in giving them the win but a perfectly struck corner kick by Troy Prescott that beat the Police custodian to seal the win. Maybe it was miscalculation but nevertheless it (Prescott’s goal) seemed intentional as it was a beauty that might be nigh impossible to replicate.
Meanwhile after his side’s amazing victory, Camptown captain Lazhan Lord told media operatives that he credited the victory to “hard work and God”.
“We’ve worked hard every single day, evenings and mornings, sometimes we would have to get up out of our beds at four o’clock (04:00 AM) to go out on the gorund just to get the work in, The hard work paid off and now we are champions. We hope we can keep up this standard of football and continue to play as the Camptown FC that everybody knows” he maintained.
Lord was also loud in praise for the keeper Richie Richardson who returned to Camptown colours giving them the inspiration they needed to become a trophy winning team again.
Meanwhile the third place game saw Grove Hi-Tech also needling Pouderoyen to walk away with a prize of $100,000. (Michelangelo Jacobus)
