Canal #2 defeat Zeeburg in warm-up game

The Zeeburg Cricket Club played the Canal #2 Cricket Club at the Zeeburg Cricket Ground in what was an eye-opening warm-up game for them during the course of the week.

14-year-old Nityanand Mathura bagged 4 wickets for 7 runs

Currently one of the top teams in the ongoing President’s T20 Tournament, Zeeburg registered a resounding 141-run victory over the All Youths Cricket Club in a warm-up game last weekend, but their performance had revealed some flaws in their technique, and those flaws should have been resolved before they took to the field in the warm-up game against the Canal#2 side.
Canal#2 won the toss and elected to bat. Playing in unfamiliar territory, they made excellent use of the conditions, as they performed as a unit, with every batsman being able to make a handy contribution to the score.
Canal registered a score of 213 for 9 in their 20 overs, with S. Suleman top scoring with 36, Cornelius Jaisingh contributing 31, and N. Persaud contributing 30.
Zeeburg’s U. Balgobin took 3 for 16, while Richardo Poloram claimed 3 for 20 and Yutesh Dhanpaul had 2 for 23.
Extras accounted for 44 of the runs scored.
In reply, Zeeburg could make only 163 for 8 in 20 overs. Their batting failed them, as most of the top order batsmen could not go on to register a big score. Yutesh Dhanpaul was the only one who rallied through the innings as he played his natural game; but with wickets constantly falling around him, he was forced to attack, and this resulted in his wicket being taken.
Dhanpaul top scored with 66, and was supported by Andre Seepersaud with 29 and U. Balgobin with 21.
Zeeburg were cruising along before 14-year-old leg spinner Nityanand Mathura wreaked havoc with their batting. He eventually returned figures of 4 for 7.
