Caretaker charged for $1.9M theft

A caretaker, who allegedly stole $1.9 million worth of jewellery and cash from her employer, made her first court appearance on Monday.

Carla Agar

Forty-year-old Carla Agar appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where she denied the theft charge.
The charge alleged that on September 3, 2019 at Festival City, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, she stole from the dwelling home of Ayoba Watson $1.5M and $400,000 in jewellery.
Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummel did not object to bail; however, she asked that conditions be applied. The Magistrate released the woman on $250,000 bail. As a condition for bail, she was instructed to lodge her passport with the court and report to the East La Penitence Police Station every Friday until the conclusion of her trial.
The case will continue on September 23.
