Caribbean boxing at Sports Hall this weekend

Guyanese boxers will look to impress this weekend in the inaugural International/Caribbean Schoolboys, Junior, Youth and Female Boxing tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 18:00h on Friday and Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
After weeks of preparation, the Guyanese boxers are primed and ready to tackle boxers from their regional counterparts St Lucia and Jamaica. President of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Steve Ninvalle, sees the tournament as a great stepping stone for the country’s boxers.

Ninvalle stated that he hopes the International/Caribbean Junior, Youth and Female Boxing tournament will be an annual event in the region. “This competition is a regional emphasis and it is to make sure that there is competition for our juniors, Guyana has started it, hopefully the other nations will continue from here,” he stated.
The Guyanese team will be led by Head Coach Sebert Blake, along with Terrence Poole, Sherdon Thomas, Clifton Moore and Floyd Grant.
Members of the Guyanese team are as follows: School Boys- Dwayne Baptis, Shaquancy Wright, Deron William, Travis Invervary, Leon More, Kevin Mullin, Junior Hyman, ShumerHutson, Matthew Mitchell, Brian Harris, Theo Bumbary, Joel Allicock, Isaiah Moore and Delroy Elcock; Junior -Shemar Bumbary, Shaquiel Wright, Kevin Allicock, Omar Pollard, Joshua Ross, Christopher Moore, Michael Edwards, Joshua Corbin, Desan Allicock and Akiel Mounter; Youth– Herman White, Duel Augustin and Quincy Boyce; and Female– Akea Londzion, Rianna Rogers and Rondesa Boget.
Candidates of the main teams to represent Guyana in the International segment will comprise of (A team) Isiah Moore, Christopher Moore, Quincy Boyce and Akiel Mounter; and (B team) Delroy Elcock, Desan Elcock, Joshua Corbin and Michael Edwards.
