Carpenter Tyrone James of Oronoque, Port Kaituma, Region One (Barima/Waini) was on Friday arraigned before a Georgetown Magistrate on a charge alleging that at about 20:52h on July 15th, at the Port Kaituma Waterfront, he hit his reputed wife Evadee Baptiste to her head, causing her to collapse and die.

The 36-year-old James had reportedly gone in search of Baptiste on that fateful night, and had allegedly found her imbibing with friends at the Waterfront. When she began dancing with another man, it reportedly enraged him, and he allegedly dealt Baptiste a blow to her head with his hand, causing her to fall to the ground unconscious.
Leaving Baptiste lying on the floor unconscious, James visited the Port Kaituma Police Station and reported what had transpired. Accompanied by a group of Policemen, James was taken back to the scene of the incident, where Baptiste was found still lying on the floor. She was picked up and rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
An autopsy conducted on her body gave the cause of her death as brain haemorrhage due to blunt trauma.
James has been remanded to prison, and the case will continue on July 23.
