Caterer robbed at gunpoint while shopping

A 42-year-old caterer was on Tuesday robbed by a lone gunman while shopping at Bourda Market. The incident, the police related, occurred at about 14:30h.
Based on reports received, the victim was about to make a purchase at a stall in Bourda Market when the lone gunman held her up with a firearm and demanded that she hand over her bag.
However, she reportedly refused and the suspect thereafter dealt her a lash to her chest with the gun and relieved her of her bag which contained about $12,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a pair of sunglasses.
After committing the robbery, the suspect ran south, out of Bourda Market, and into a waiting motor car which was parked on Regent Street.
The police were summoned, located the getaway car and gave chase when the suspect attempted to dispose of the firearm but same was retrieved by the police.
Both the suspect and the driver of the motor car were arrested, taken into custody and are assisting with investigations.
