One suspected bandit is in Police custody while a second is on the run after they allegedly robbed two cattle rangers at Gurman Gate, Tain, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The two men, a 32-year-old and a 44-year-old, were relieved of two haversacks and its contents and one torchlight.
The Police have said that on the day in question, the two victims were on duty at Gurman Gate, Tain, in the guard hut when they were confronted by the two perpetrators, who dealt them several lashes about their bodies and relieved them of the items before making good their escape.
The matter was immediately reported to the Police, and based on information received, the Police went to a home at Miss Phoebe, Port Mourant, where a 24-year-old male was seen lying in a hammock under the house.
A search was carried out, and two haversacks were found on a bench next to him. The haversacks were claimed by the two victims as theirs, identified by secret markings and their general appearance.
Further checks were made in the house, and three bicycles were found, two of which were identified by the victims to be their properties.
As such, the suspect was arrested and placed into custody, while checks were made in the area for the other suspect.
